Botanical name: Cuminum cyminum
Main constituents:
Cuminic aldehyde: 31.45%
Country of origin: India
Product description:
For more than 4000 years, Cumin has been used in culinary applications as a spice. At one time, it also had pecuniary applications and was often used for the repayment of debts and taxes and as payment for employees. Today, Cumin remains a popular spice in the cuisines of India, the West Indies, and in Central and South Americas.
When steam distilled, the seeds of the Cuminum cyminum botanical yield an extract known as Cumin Essential Oil, which has a thin consistency and a color that ranges from greenish-yellow to a shade of brown. Its warm, spicy, musky, and slightly nutty aroma is reputed to help dispel negative mental states, such as stress and anxiety, and to stimulate the appetite, which is thought to be especially beneficial for those who suffer from eating disorders.
Cumin Oil's warming and calming effect on the skin is thought to be especially beneficial for reducing muscle soreness when used in massage applications. This spicy Essential Oil is believed to support metabolic function, enhance circulation, facilitate the body's detoxification, promote weight loss in a healthy way, decrease water retention and swelling, and regulate menstruation while helping to minimize discomforts associated with it. Cumin Essential Oil is also commonly used cosmetically for its believed ability to help reduce the appearance of cellulite, acne, and wrinkles.
With anti-microbial properties, Cumin Essential Oil is thought to function as an anti-septic treatment that is reputed to assist the healing of wounds by protecting the body against toxins and preventing or reducing the development of infections.
Quick and easy recipes:
Massage blend: For a warming massage blend that is ideal for use on cold days, simply dilute 1-2 drops of Cumin Essential Oil in a Carrier Oil, such as Coconut or Avocado, and apply it to preferred areas of skin. Reputed to encourage speedy healing, this simple blend can also be applied to wounds.
Diffuser blend: For an aromatherapy experience that is reputed to boost the mood and stimulate the appetite, add 3-4 drops of Cumin Essential Oil to a diffuser of personal preference.
Bath blend: For a soothing and invigorating bath blend that is believed to support emotional balance, increase stamina, and support the strength of the muscles, first combine 1 cup each of Sea Salts and Epsom Salts in a glass bowl. To this, add ¼ cup of Baking Soda and 60 ml of 1-2 preferred Carrier Oils. Next, add 5-10 drops of Cumin Essential Oil. Thoroughly combine all the ingredients, then spoon ¼ -1 cup of the bath blend into a full bathtub of warm water. Before entering the bath, ensure that the salts have completely dissolved. This recipe is thought to improve the appearance of the skin, especially areas afflicted with acne.
