The leaves of the Tea tree, sometimes spelled Ti-tree, yield a thin, clear liquid that is pale yellow in appearance. Its strong, fresh scent – described as woody, earthy and herbaceous – blends well with essential oils that have herbaceous, floral, woody, or spicy aromas, such as Cinnamon Bark, Clove Bud, Rosemary, Thyme, Lavender, Geranium, and Myrrh.
Used in aromatherapy, the warm, slightly spicy scent of Tea Tree Oil is believed to help stimulate feelings of mental energy, thereby sharpening attention and enhancing performance of cognitive tasks. Tea Tree Oil is also used to help support healthy respiration. Used cosmetically, it is known to promote healthy-looking skin and hair.
Quick and easy recipes:
Massage blend: For a massage oil that helps support feelings of vigor and promote healthy-looking skin, dilute 8-10 drops of Tea Tree Oil in 30 ml (1 oz.) of carrier oil. Apply this blend to preferred areas of skin as well as to muscles and joints affected by soreness or inflammation. Regular topical application of Tea Tree Oil, whether in a bath or in natural cosmetic formulations, is reputed to help cleanse and hydrate the skin, to help reduce the appearance of blemishes, and to help balance the oily texture.
Diffuser blend: For a diffuser recipe that is reputed to promote a sense of calm, confidence, and emotional balance, add 4 drops of Tea Tree Oil to a diffuser of personal choice. This is reputed to help reduce the chances of experiencing sadness, anxiety, and mood swings, among other negative mindsets. For a diffuser blend that helps to manage symptoms of common colds and the flu, Tea Tree Oil may be combined with other essential oils that are known to help support a healthy immune system, such as Lavender or Eucalyptus.
Bath blend: For a cleansing bath oil that is also reputed to help facilitate wound healing by reducing the risk of developing infections, dilute 6 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil in 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of carrier oil and ½ cup of Epsom Salts, then add the blend to a warm bath. Before entering the bath, ensure that the salts have completely dissolved. This simple blend is further believed to help manage fevers and headaches, to help manage lice, to help maintain balanced blood pressure, and to help reduce the appearance of scars, such as those caused by acne.
